MEET THE TEAM
Dr. Kimberly Tom
Dr. Tom aka “Dr. Kim” is a native San Franciscan. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Physiology at the University of California, Davis. She went on to earn her Doctorate of Optometry degree at the State University of New York.
After graduating, she served as a Lieutenant in the US Public Health Service, in Kotzebue, Alaska, delivering eye care to the eleven villages that make up the Northwest Arctic Borough.
Moving back home to open a private practice was next on the agenda, and thus Eye Q Optometry was born. It has been a labor of love since. Dr. Tom is truly dedicated to her diverse patient base and takes great pride in staying current with the latest knowledge and technology while continuing to grow her practice with her dedicated staff.
In her spare time, Dr. Tom is a dedicated exerciser, having run several marathons, completed many triathlons and most currently enjoys participating in Cross Fit.
She has two kitties and a dog that she raises with the artist in residence.
Kathy Chinn
She is a true artist in every sense of the word. You may have seen some of her creative window displays. You might even have purchased some of her hand blown glass.
Over the last 20 years, we have had the great fortune of having Kathy’s “eye” for color and dimension in assisting so many of our patients when it comes to choosing the perfect pair of frames.
In her spare time, she creates art in various mediums and volunteers at one of her favorite non profit organizations, SCRAP (a local reuse center), as we have both benefited and donated items for our extremely well known and highly awaited window display projects.
John Cerbatos
John is one of Dr. Tom’s oldest friends (not old like that!) But seriously. He is married to the doc’s best friend from high school and college and they have known one another for over 35 years! We are blessed to have such a friendly, kind and hardworking team member.
John has over 30 years of experience as an optician and has an excellent eye for frame styling and is extremely knowledgeable about frame and lens materials, as well as the latest designs and lens coatings.
In his spare time, he loves spending time with his wife and wonderful daughter and their two doggos, Roscoe and Jonah. He is an avid Bay Area sports fan and can be found listening to and watching our Warriors, Niners and Giants.
